How does it work?
Podophyllotoxin is derived from the roots of the Indian podophyllum plant.
It is applied directly to genital warts. When it penetrates the wart tissue, it has a toxic effect on the nuclei of the wart cells. The nucleus is the cell's control centre. It controls cell division and multiplication (mitosis). This results in the healthy growth of tissue.
Podophyllotoxin is an antimitotic and by its action on the nuclei, prevents the wart cells from dividing. This stops the cells multiplying. Over time, all the wart cells die and new healthy tissue grows in their place.
What is it used for?
Dosage
Condyline (Podophyllotoxin) is applied either with the tip of the finger or an applicator. Put a small amount of Condyline (Podophyllotoxin) on the affected area and gently rub it in. The result should be a thin film of the medication covering the genital wart. Make sure you wash your hands after applying Condyline (Podophyllotoxin). If you use an applicator safely dispose the applicator after use.
Use Condyline (Podophyllotoxin) as directed, usually for 3 days per week, and for 4 weeks in total. Before using Condyline (Podophyllotoxin), make sure the area is clean and dry.
