Uses
Intazide (Balsalazide) is a prescription drug that is typically used as treatment to help with conditions such as an ulcerative colon.
Dosage and administration
Use Intazide (Balsalazide) as directed only, do not self prescribe as safe dosage is dependent on many individual factors that only your doctor should determine. Do not end or alter your prescription without your doctor’s guidance to do so as this could lead to undesirable symptoms, speak to your doctor about best procedure if you want to stop using this medicine.
You should not double dose of this drug to compensate any doses you have missed.
Side effects
Inform your doctor of any side effects that occur from using this drug, some examples could include:
- Diarrhea
- Vomiting
- Headaches
- Painful muscles, stomach and/or joints
- Feeling nauseous
- Decrease in appetite
- Heartburn
Seek help immediately if you experience any of these rare symptoms below.
- An allergic reaction (Symptoms may include hives, swelling in your face, tongue, mouth, lips or limbs, tightening chest, itchiness, skin rashes and problems breathing
- Jaundice (yellowing skin and/or eyes))
- Fatigue
- Infection signs
- Dark urine or bloody stools or bleeding from your rectum
- Fever
Precautions
Check with your doctor if any of the following apply to you.
- Any allergies
- Usage of other medications (including non-prescription), supplements, or vitamins
- You are pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding
- A diet containing any grapefruit, alcohol or tobacco
- Any past or present conditions linked to the kidney or stomach or intestinal blockage as well as any other conditions which may be relevant
