Use
Lansoprazole is classed as a proton pump inhibitor and is used to treat over production of stomach acid. The over production of stomach acid can lead to stomach or duodenal ulcers, or gastro-esophageal disease.
Dosage
Typically, you will be prescribed 1 capsule in the morning before a meal. However you should only use this medication as directed by your doctor. Do not stop taking Lansoprazole unless you have consulted your doctor first.
It can take several days before you notice significant improvement in your condition. Check with our doctor to see whether occasional treatment with an antacid may used in the interim period before Lansoprazole takes effect.
Side Effects
Taking Lansoprazole can result in unwanted side effects, although the prevalence of side effects is considered to be rare. Some of the side effects include stomach pain, diarrhea, constipation, headache or nausea.
Other more serious side effects may occur on very rare occasions. These side effects include dark yellow or brown urine, fever, sore throat, unusual skin rash, unusual bleeding or bruising, or vomiting. If you experience any of these side effects, you should see your doctor.
Precautions
If you have a history of liver or kidney disease, then consult your doctor about whether Lansoprazole is suitable for your condition.
