Uses
Divret (Indapamide) is a non-thiazide sulphonamide diuretic prescribed as a treatment to help with high blood pressure (also known as hypertension) and decompensated cardiac failure. It works by eliminating excess fluids from the patient’s body, which helps to reduce blood pressure. This medication can be used alone or in combination with other medicine to treat these conditions.
Studies have shown this medication to reduce the risks of stroke for patients over 80 years old.
Dosage and administration
Strictly follow the instructions of your doctor, as dosage can vary from patient to patient and must be determined by a qualified healthcare professional. Do not change your dose yourself and never self-medicate.
A typical dose is between 1.25mg and 5mg per day, taken in 1 dose, usually in the morning time alongside a breakfast meal. It can also be taken without food.
You may need to supplement your diet with additional potassium to prevent hypokalemia due to the fluid loss caused by this medication.
