Uses
Creon 10000 (Pancreatin) is a supplement given to patients who have decreased or no enzyme secretion in their pancreas. These are usually the people suffering from Pancreatitis or severe inflammation of the pancreas and from Cystic Fibrosis. Those with cancer of the Pancreas or any condition wherein the flow of enzymes from the Pancreas is blocked may also be given this drug. The main action of this medicine is to help the digestive processes in the body.
Dosage and administration
Always dose as instructed by your doctor. If advised to increase your dosage, always do so gradually, carefully monitoring your body’s reaction to the change. Never self-medicate or exceed the dosage proscribed to you.
Typical dose is 1 or 2 tablets per day, taken on a full stomach or alongside a meal.
Tablets can be taken whole, or split and the contents poured into a drink or soft food. Avoid chewing if you mix the medication into food.
Side effects
Side effects can occur and the most commonly reported are constipation, abdomen pains, vomiting, abnormal stool, increased uric acid.
If you think you have suffered an allergic reaction, seek immediate medical attention. Symptoms may include difficulty breathing, tight chest, skin rashes, swelling, and hives.
Precautions
Drink plenty of fluids to keep your body hydrated while taking Creon 10000.
Prior to taking Creon 10000 inform your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, and disclose any of the following which apply to you.
Store in a cool place, under 30 degrees Celsius.
