Uses
Rizact is prescribed to help patients with migraines and severe headaches, as well as associated symptoms such as nausea, and light and sound sensitivity. It is a selective serotonin receptor agonist which works by inhibiting the signals sent to the brain, preventing certain substances from being released. This action reduces the severity of migraine symptoms but unfortunately will not prevent further attacks from occurring.

Dosage and administration
Always consult your doctor for the correct dosage for you and instructions regarding how to take the medication. Safe dosage can vary from patient to patient depending on medical history, current health condition, details of the condition being treated, and any other medication being taken.

Tablets are taken at the first sign of a migraine and are simply placed on the tongue to slowly dissolve. As the tablets disintegrate when they come into contact with moisture, you should avoid handling the tablets or taking them out of their packaging until right before dosing.

Under normal circumstances you should never take 30 mg in any 24 hour period. If you have never taken Rizact-5 before, you may be asked to dose in your doctor’s office the first time so your response to the therapy can be closely monitored. If your response is weak, your doctor may opt to try a second dose 2 hours after the first. This close monitoring will also be necessary for patients at risk of heart disease.

Side effects
As with all medication, side effects are a possibility. If you experience any which persist, worsen or start to worry you, you should contact your doctor promptly.

  • Drowsiness

If you experience any of the more serious side effects listed below you need to seek immediate medical attention.

  • Changes to your vision
  • Changes to your heartbeat or heartrate
  • Difficulty breathing
  • Itchy, irritated, or red skin
  • Swelling
  • Hives

If you have an allergic reaction, call for immediate emergency medical assistance.

Precautions
If you are older than 40 years of age it is important to consult your doctor to discuss if this medication will pose an added health risk to you and is therefore not suitable for your use.

Avoid unnecessary exposure to direct sunlight, or the use of UV sun lamps. This medication may increase your skin’s sensitivity to UV rays. Wear sunscreen and protective clothing as much as possible.

Avoid driving or operating any heavy or dangerous machinery until you know fully how this medication affects you. Some patients report suddenly dizziness or confusion at different stages after dosing.

Before you begin using Rezact-5 always ensure that your doctor is aware of:
