Ursodil is used as treatment for gallstones for those who are not able to go through surgery for removal. It may also be prescribed to overweight patients who are rapidly losing weight in order to prevent gallstones. It helps by lowering the levels of cholesterol that is produced by the liver.
Dosage and administration
Only use exactly as prescribed by your doctor. The correct dosage will dependent on your condition and your medical history.
Never self medicate, increase the dose you have been prescribed, or change the length of your course of medicine unless advised to do so by your doctor.
Take each dose with or without food and alongside plenty of water. Your doctor may monitor your progress so you should upkeep any appointments he or she schedules you. It could take a few months for the gallstones to completely dissolve.
